Thermal Inkjet

The industrial ink cartridges have a series of tiny electrically heated chambers, in which pulses produce a steam bubble. This pushes the ink droplets through the nozzle and places the droplets precisely onto the print material. The contraction of the bubble ensures that within a 100 millionth of a second re-ink from the connected ink reservoir is pulled into the chambers and shot out.

Functionality Of The Systems

With HP, the print technology is found in the ink cartridge.

The ink is in the ink channels of the ink cartridge, in which the viscosity and surface tension of the ink prevents a contained in the cartridge ink ducts and the viscosity and surface tension of the ink prevents a leakage.

Behind each nozzle opening is a heating element, which generates a vapor bubble when power is short term applied (1.9 µs).

This vapor bubble gives the ink between the heating element and the nozzle opening an impulse and “shoots” a defined quantity of ink out of the opening.
